In the Carpathian region, a court has ordered precautionary measures in the gas scheme case
In the Carpathian region, a court has imposed pretrial measures on four employees of a private gas production company suspected of large-scale illegal diversion of gas from Ukraine’s gas transmission system. All four have been remanded in custody with the option to post bail, the amounts of which total hundreds of millions of hryvnias. The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Facebook.
Investigators believe this was a scheme that operated for years and caused the state losses of more than 200 million hryvnias. In the case of large-scale theft of natural gas from Ukraine’s gas transmission system in the Carpathian region, the court has imposed pretrial measures on four suspects—the head and three employees of a private company. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The court ordered pretrial detention for all defendants with the right to post bail. The bail amounts vary significantly: 166 million hryvnias, 200 million, nearly one million, and another 173 million hryvnias.

Prosecutors insisted on strict conditions, citing the scale of the losses and risks to the investigation. The court took the prosecution’s position into account and agreed on the need for preventive measures.

According to the investigation, the scheme operated from 2022 to 2025. Law enforcement officials allege that employees of a private company illegally siphoned gas from the state gas transmission system and sold it on the market.

In total, this amounts to approximately 8 million cubic meters of gas, valued at over 200 million hryvnias. The Office of the Prosecutor General notes that the scheme was uncovered this week, and further investigative actions are currently underway to identify all those involved in the scheme.
