Zelenskyy has set a deadline for the government to repair the roads
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a clear task for the Cabinet of Ministers and local authorities: to promptly resolve the main issues related to the repair of local roads in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions by the end of June.
This was reported by the head of state’s official Telegram channel.
The decision was prompted by a coordination meeting between the Prime Minister and government officials with the heads of local communities in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. During the discussion, officials addressed the most pressing practical challenges facing border and frontline regions, where road repairs are a critical priority.
The head of state separately emphasized that in the context of full-scale war, the condition of road infrastructure is no longer solely a civilian matter but has become an integral part of the country’s overall defense system. Military logistics, the speed of heavy equipment movement, and, most importantly, the efficiency of medical evacuation routes for wounded Ukrainian defenders directly depend on the quality of these roads.
Zelenskyy clearly assigned areas of responsibility for carrying out the restoration work: this task falls to the Cabinet of Ministers and the leadership of the regional military administrations. At the same time, in border areas that are constantly under enemy shelling, military units and special services will be involved in the coordination and security escort process. The President thanked all members of the teams involved and emphasized that residents of affected communities must see the state’s genuine attention to their defense and daily needs.
Zelenskyy also ordered the strengthening of air defense near Belarus.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated from Slavutych that Ukraine is ready to take preemptive action in the event of threats from Belarus and Russia’s border regions. According to him, the situation in the northern direction requires additional reinforcement of defenses and attention to community safety. The President also separately warned the Belarusian leadership about the possible consequences of any aggressive steps.
Alexander Lukashenko stated that he is allegedly ready to visit Ukraine and discuss relations with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In Kyiv, the response to such statements was as restrained and firm as possible, with officials reminding him of Belarus’s role in the war.
