At the Porubne border crossing, border guards uncovered a forged birth certificate
At the “Porubne” border crossing, border guards detected signs of forgery in a child’s birth certificate, which a Ukrainian citizen had presented as grounds for traveling abroad. The document was seized and sent for examination.
The man, born in 1983, was traveling to Romania and, while passing through border control, presented birth certificates for three children. One of them had been issued in Syria.
During an in-depth inspection using technical border control equipment, border guards determined that the document showed signs of forgery.
Specifically, the security features that are supposed to be applied during the production of the form were reproduced using a standard inkjet printer, and the text was printed over the stamp impressions.
Furthermore, the certificate had not been properly legalized by Ukrainian diplomatic missions.
The citizen was handed over to National Police officers. A report was also sent to law enforcement authorities regarding the discovery of signs of a criminal offense under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps, and forms; sale or use of forged documents, seals, or stamps).
