Police uncover a 2.5 million hryvnia fraud scheme during renovations at the Odessa Zoo

Police have notified the director of a contracting company and a technical supervisor of their status as suspects in a case involving the embezzlement of public funds.

According to the investigation, during the major renovation of the heating system at the Odessa Zoo, the contractor inflated the cost of labor and materials in the documents.

The technical supervision engineer approved the certificates of completion despite the inaccurate data.

As a result, nearly 2.5 million UAH more than the actual cost was unjustifiably transferred from the local budget.

The total contract amount for the repairs exceeded 4.7 million hryvnias. The losses were confirmed by an expert assessment.
