A soldier in Rivne Oblast has been charged with attempted murder
Under the procedural supervision of the Rivne Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense Affairs in the Western Region, a 48-year-old soldier in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been notified of his status as a suspect.
According to the investigation, the man opened fire on employees of the territorial recruitment and social support center, as well as a police officer. The incident has been classified as attempted murder.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, the man had left his military unit without authorization back in October 2024. On April 29, 2026, at around 5:00 p.m., in one of the settlements of the Dubno District, he rode up on a bicycle to a service vehicle carrying TCS employees and a police officer. He took an automatic weapon out of his bag and fired several rounds in the direction of the car.
As a result of the shooting, two people sustained injuries from flying glass shards. They were hospitalized. Two other people who were in the vehicle were unharmed. The official vehicle sustained mechanical damage.
After the attack, the man fled and hid in the basement of an abandoned building. He was located and detained. During a search, an automatic weapon, nearly 500 rounds of ammunition, a grenade, and an object resembling a silencer were seized.
His actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 15, Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 8 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (completed attempted murder) and Part 4 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (desertion).
Prosecutors filed a motion with the court to impose a preventive measure in the form of detention.



In Rivne Oblast, a channel for illegally smuggling men abroad was uncovered.
Additionally, in Vinnytsia Oblast, an employee of the anti-corruption and organized crime department of a regional branch of a nationwide public organization is suspected of bribery.
Earlier, employees of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) detained a female employee of one of the district departments of the state institution “Probation Center” in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, who demanded a bribe of $21,500 from a wounded soldier.
