The SBU detained a Russian informant who was coordinating strikes on Mykolaiv
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another agent in Mykolaiv who was working for Russia. The suspect is a repeat offender who passed information about the locations of Ukrainian defense forces to the enemy.
According to the investigation, the man tracked the coordinates of Ukrainian military facilities that the Russian side planned to use for missile and drone attacks on the city.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
The investigation revealed that the informant was a local repeat offender who had previously served time for robbery and car theft.
He came to the attention of Russian intelligence after his release from prison, when he began looking for “quick money” on specialized Telegram channels.
Promised “easy money,” the suspect began driving around the port city to identify Ukrainian military bases and mark their locations on Google Maps.
Additionally, upon identifying potential “targets,” the informant conducted further reconnaissance to determine the approximate number of personnel and equipment, the characteristics of the terrain, and other details.
The suspect transmitted the gathered information to a Russian intelligence officer, with whom he communicated via an anonymous chat in a popular messaging app.
SBU officers exposed and documented the suspect and detained him after securing the Defense Forces’ locations.
During searches, a smartphone containing evidence of working for the enemy was seized from the detainee.
Security Service investigators informed him of the charges under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information regarding the movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the possibility of their identification on the ground, committed under martial law).
The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and possible additional charges against the Russian informant.
The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU officers in the Mykolaiv region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
The SBU and the OGP announcednew charges against Kolomoyskyi.
Additionally, Kolomoyskyiclaimed that the expert analysis was falsified in a Kyiv court.
Kolomoyskyi will remain in pretrial detention until May 1.
As a reminder, the court ruled that the attempted assassination of Kolomoyskyi would not be investigated.
