In Kyiv, two schoolchildren set fire to dry grass near Lake Raiduzhne

In the capital, police identified two minors who set dry grass on fire near Lake Raiduzhne. The incident caused a fire, but fortunately, no one was injured.

This was reported by the Kyiv Police.

The Dnipro District Police Department in Kyiv received a report of a fire near the lake. State Emergency Service rescuers quickly extinguished the fire and determined that it was caused by the ignition of dry vegetation.

Juvenile police officers determined that two boys, aged 9 and 11, were involved in the incident. According to the children, they found matches while out walking and, out of curiosity, set dry grass on fire, not expecting the fire to spread so quickly.

Law enforcement officers held a preventive discussion with the children. Administrative charges were filed against their parents under Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses—failure to properly fulfill parental responsibilities. They face a fine.

Kyiv police urge parents to keep a closer eye on their children’s leisure activities and explain to them the dangers of playing with fire, as such actions can lead to serious consequences and administrative or criminal liability.

Earlier in Ternopil, law enforcement officers detained a 22-year-old local resident on suspicion of setting fire to a bank branch. The incident occurred on the evening of March 24 in the “Soniachnyi” neighborhood.
