In the Sumy region, a 12-year-old boy brought an unidentified explosive device home, which detonated. The child was hospitalized, and law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The Sumy Regional Police reported this on May 17.
“In one of the settlements in the Romny district, a 12-year-old boy found an unknown object, which he brought home. Subsequently, the dangerous object exploded while the child was nearby,” the agency’s statement reads.
As a result of the explosion, the boy sustained injuries. He was hospitalized to receive necessary medical care. Law enforcement officials are investigating all the circumstances of the incident.
The police urge people not to pick up, move, or attempt to disassemble any found objects, regardless of their appearance.
