A man suspected of raping his stepdaughter was arrested in the Sumy region
In the Sumy region, a court remanded a 39-year-old man in custody without the right to bail after he was notified that he was suspected of raping his young stepdaughter.
According to the investigation, the man married the girl’s mother in 2021 and was granted custody of her. In November 2023, while at home in Trostyanets, he allegedly raped the child, according to investigators.
Two years later, the girl found the courage to tell an acquaintance about what she had gone through. Afterward, the information was anonymously passed on to representatives of a human rights organization, who contacted law enforcement.
The man was notified that he was suspected of violating Part 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court ordered him to be held in custody without the right to bail.
