In the Ternopil region, they cooked more than three metric tons of bograch and broke the record

In the Terebovlia community in the Ternopil region, a record amount of bograch—3 metric tons and 140 liters—was prepared. The achievement was officially recognized as a world record, and afterward, the enormous cauldron of the dish was served to the guests. Hundreds of kilograms of meat, vegetables, and other ingredients were used in the preparation.

A new culinary record was set in the Terebovlia community in the Ternopil region. There, they prepared 3 metric tons and 140 liters of bograch. Lana Vetrova, head of the National Register of Records of Ukraine, confirmed that the result set a new world record for the largest volume of bograch prepared. “Three metric tons and 140 liters of bograch were cooked in the Terebovlia community in the Ternopil region. This is a world record,” Vetrova stated.

The previous record was set in Zakarpattia in 2015. At that time, 2 metric tons and 850 liters of bograch were prepared there. Thus, the chefs from Ternopil managed to surpass the previous record by 290 liters.

The certificate confirming the record was presented to the event’s organizer, Andriy Balabukh. According to him, he had never before had to prepare such a huge quantity of the dish. Usually, bograch is cooked in much smaller pots—about 300–500 liters.

What Went Into the Record-Breaking Cauldron

A huge amount of ingredients was used to prepare the bograch. Specifically, it required:

  • about 600 kg of meat—beef and pork;
  • 100 kg of lard;
  • 500 kg of potatoes;
  • 100 kg of carrots;
  • 160 kg of onions;
  • 100 kg of red peppers.

More than 20 people helped prepare the ingredients. The work began after lunch and continued throughout the night. Team members had to prepare and process hundreds of kilograms of ingredients, then gradually add them to a huge container. “The prep work began after lunch and lasted all night because we had to process and cook such a huge amount of food,” said team member Orisa Andriyevska.

How the record was verified

To ensure the result could be officially registered, representatives from the National Register of Records of Ukraine monitored the cooking process. Before recording the result, they took the necessary measurements. During preparation, each ingredient was weighed separately and recorded on video.

They also monitored the timing of when ingredients were added. This ensured that the bograch was prepared according to the traditional recipe and that no attempts were made to artificially speed up the process. After all the checks were completed, Lana Vetrova announced the official result—3 metric tons and 140 liters of bograch. The record’s initiator was presented with a certificate. But that wasn’t the end of it. After the record was officially certified, those in attendance were treated to a huge serving of bograch. This was reported by Suspilne.

Since the beginning of 2026, the Territorial Recruitment Centers and the Special Forces have contacted the police more than 1.5 million times to locate citizens who, according to military registration and enlistment offices, are evading mobilization. This was stated by Maxim Tsutsikiridze, acting head of the National Police.
