In Vinnytsia Oblast, a local resident was sentenced to 12 years in prison for causing a traffic accident that left five people injured. According to the prosecutor’s office, the man had been in a long-standing conflict with his ex-partner due to jealousy and had repeatedly threatened her, specifically stating that he would intentionally cause a traffic accident while she was driving.
In May 2024, the woman was driving her 14-year-old daughter and two teenage acquaintances, aged 15 and 17, to school. A 60-year-old man was also in the car.
Carrying out his threats, the defendant deliberately rammed the side of the victim’s vehicle with his own car. From the impact, the car veered off the road and overturned.
As a result of the accident, the driver and four passengers sustained injuries of varying severity.
After a series of expert examinations confirmed the attempted murder, the man was notified of the charges against him in November 2025.
The court sentenced him to 12 years in prison. He remained in custody during the pre-trial investigation and trial. The defendant did not admit his guilt
