In the Vinnytsia region, a company commander was notified that he was under suspicion of concealing military equipment in exchange for bribes

Law enforcement officials exposed a company commander who demanded a bribe from a subordinate in exchange for not reporting the soldier’s unauthorized absence from the military unit to the relevant authorities

According to the investigation, in November 2025, the captain offered a soldier who had returned from active duty the chance to “settle the matter” for 200,000 hryvnias.

To pressure the soldier, the commander restricted his leave and discharge options and threatened him with criminal prosecution, after which the subordinate turned to law enforcement. The money was transferred in installments under the supervision of investigators: in March 2026, 12,100 hryvnias were deposited into the card; in May, another 20,000 hryvnias; and in June, following another installment of 20,000 hryvnias, the suspect was detained pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The officer has now been notified of suspicion of receiving an unlawful benefit by a public official under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and by a court conviction.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Earlier, a court in Volyn sentenced a serviceman to five years in prison for twice leaving his post without authorization (desertion) after participating in combat operations and sustaining injuries.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations completed the pre-trial investigation and filed an indictment against a servicemember from the Sumy region. The man is accused of illegally possessing and selling firearms, ammunition, and explosives without the required legal authorization.
