In Vinnytsia Oblast, there is a proposal to confiscate loud motorcycles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The authorities of the Ivanivska community are considering the possibility of forcibly confiscating motor vehicles equipped with straight-through mufflers from those disturbing the peace, with the vehicles subsequently being transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This initiative was prompted by numerous complaints from local residents about excessive noise in the evening and at night, which is particularly distressing for veterans and families with children. According to the village council, a significant portion of these vehicles are driven by minors, creating additional risks to road safety.
Currently, the mechanism for confiscation is being developed in collaboration with representatives of the patrol police and the regional recruitment center. Before implementing radical measures, the community will conduct preventive outreach: a meeting with students is already scheduled for March 20 at the lyceum in the village of Ivaniv to explain the rules for using motorcycles. As Russia continues its nighttime attacks on Ukrainian cities, the use of vehicles with loud exhausts creates additional psychological stress among the population, forcing local authorities to resort to strict restrictive measures.
Experts note that such an initiative could become an effective tool for maintaining public order while simultaneously assisting military units, which are increasingly relying on mobile motorcycle units. If the decision is approved, owners of loud vehicles will have to choose between replacing their mufflers with standard ones or risking the permanent confiscation of their property for the sake of national defense. The results of the preventive measures and the council’s next steps will be announced after the first meetings with the community’s youth.
Meanwhile, Latvia has already transferred more than 600 vehicles to Ukraine that were confiscated from drunk drivers.
