In the Vinnytsia region, law enforcement officers detained a 52-year-old commander of the educational support unit who attempted to bribe an officer to cover up a planned unauthorized absence from the unit by one of the cadets.
The court ordered the suspect to be held in pretrial detention with the option of posting bail in the amount of 449,280 hryvnias; he faces up to 8 years in prison for the offense.
According to the investigation, in August 2026, the servicemember offered the acting commander of the training company a monetary reward to cover up the cadet’s intentions. The amount of the illegal benefit increased from 2,000 to 2,500 U.S. dollars. The suspect was detained directly during the transfer of 80,000 hryvnias and 500 euros and was notified of the charges against him under Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
