In Volyn, a car veered off the road at high speed and crashed into a ditch; two people were killed
A fatal accident occurred in the village of Zhorany in Volyn. A passenger car veered off the road at high speed, landed in a ditch, and overturned; the driver and passenger were killed. Both were residents of Shatsk. The Volyn Regional Police reported this on Facebook.
The accident occurred in the morning, around 7 a.m. According to the Volyn Regional Police, the 28-year-old driver of an Audi failed to maintain a safe speed and did not take road conditions into account. The car veered off the road and overturned into a ditch.
As a result of the severe impact, the driver and his 33-year-old passenger died at the scene. Medical personnel could do nothing to help. The police specify that both men were residents of the town of Shatsk. Law enforcement officials are currently deciding whether to open a criminal investigation.
This involves Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—“violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of several persons.” The causes of the accident are being determined. Among the main theories are speeding and loss of control of the vehicle.
