In Volyn, the organizer of a scheme to smuggle men out of the country using forged documents was sentenced
In Volyn, the Lutsk City and District Court sentenced a local resident for organizing the illegal smuggling of men subject to military conscription across the state border using forged disability documents.
The investigation established that the defendant recruited individuals willing to leave Ukraine, instructed them, and organized the logistics for their passage through the “Ustyluh” road border crossing. His accomplice produced fake pension certificates indicating a Group III disability. To transport the clients, the organizer hired other drivers who were unaware of the passengers’ forged documents. Law enforcement documented two instances of departure in September and November 2023.
During the trial, the defendant pleaded guilty and reached a plea agreement with the prosecutor. Taking his remorse into account, the court sentenced him to one year of probation and barred him from working in the passenger transportation sector for two years.
