In Zakarpattia, police are trying to locate the parents of a ninth-grader who opened fire at a school and wounded another student. According to law enforcement officials, the teenager is currently refusing to speak with psychologists.
The injured student was not hospitalized—the wound was superficial, and he received medical care on the spot, Transcarpathian Police Spokesperson Hanna Dan said in a commentto Ukrinform.
"Fortunately, there are no other victims of the school shooting in Zakarpattia. The children are all fine. The injured boy was shot in the shoulder by another student. There is no threat to his health or life; it is a superficial wound. He was not hospitalized; medics provided assistance on the spot," Dan noted.
According to the police spokesperson, the boy who opened fire has been apprehended. "There is no formal arrest report yet; they are deciding what to do with him. They will now try to locate his parents. Psychologists are working with him—he is not yet responding. But we are not pressuring him; we are waiting for the psychologists to do their work," Dan said.
