In Transcarpathia, three men attempted to bribe border guards to leave the country
At the “Dyakove” and “Luzhanka” border crossing points in Zakarpattia, border guards from the Mukachevo Detachment thwarted three attempts to bribe military personnel. The men offered money to leave Ukraine unimpeded without the documents required to cross the state border.
Two incidents occurred at the “Dyakove” border crossing on the Ukrainian-Romanian border within a span of only about 20 minutes. According to border guards, the bribes were offered by two residents of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast who were attempting to leave Ukraine without the necessary documents.
Another attempted bribe was recorded at the “Luzhanka” checkpoint on the border with Hungary. There, a 34-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region, who also lacked legal grounds for departure, offered border guards money to bypass the established border control procedure.
The State Border Guard Service noted that in all three cases, the officers refused the illegal benefits and acted in accordance with the law. The total amount of the bribes offered exceeded the equivalent of 35,000 hryvnias.
For each incident, a report was sent to the National Police regarding the detection of signs of a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—“Offering, promising, or providing an unlawful benefit to a public official.”
The Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service also reported that since the beginning of 2026, border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment have already refused bribes totaling approximately 500,000 hryvnias.

As a reminder, preparations are nearing completion in Zakarpattia for the launch of the new “Bila Tserkva–Sighete Marmatiei” international border crossing on the Ukrainian-Romanian border.
Throughout June, Ukrainian border guards detained more than 1,000 people who were attempting to illegally cross the state border or were in the border zone without the proper permits.
