A scheme involving the sale of cars imported under the guise of humanitarian aid has been uncovered in Transcarpathia
Internal and internal security officers of the State Border Guard Service, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, have shut down an operation involving the illegal sale of vehicles imported from the EU under the guise of humanitarian aid.
The organizer of the illegal scheme turned out to be a 28-year-old entrepreneur from Zakarpattia. The businessman was detained while receiving $6,000 in cash for the sale of three such vehicles.
The entrepreneur has been notified of suspicion regarding the sale of humanitarian aid goods during martial law for the purpose of making a profit, as part of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to seven years with confiscation of property. Operational support for the pre-trial investigation and the dismantling of the scheme were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office with the participation of USR officers in the Transcarpathian region and force support from the Mukachevo Border Guard Unit.
