A woman who smuggled draft dodgers across the Tisa River for money was detained in Transcarpathia
In Zakarpattia, law enforcement officers exposed a resident of the Berehove District who was organizing the illegal smuggling of men across the state border. She planned to receive 6,000 euros for her services.
The woman was supposed to help a man from Kyiv illegally cross the border via the Tisa River. She was detained while preparing for the smuggling operation.
As part of an ongoing criminal investigation, based on information from operatives of the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment, law enforcement officers thwarted an attempt to smuggle a 26-year-old man from Kyiv across the Ukrainian-Romanian border.
A 30-year-old resident of Zakarpattia was involved in organizing the illegal transfer. The suspect priced her services at 6,000 euros.
The Kyiv resident was supposed to cross the border via the Tisa River.
Law enforcement officers detained the smuggler in the city of Vynogradiv while she was receiving the agreed-upon payment.
She has been charged under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine). If the suspect is found guilty in court, she faces a sentence of up to nine years in prison.
The investigation is ongoing. The circle of individuals involved in the illegal activity is being identified.
