Concrete slabs buckled in the Zhytomyr region due to the heat
On the Kyiv–Kovel–Yagodin highway, concrete slabs on the M-07 Kyiv–Kovel–Yagodin international highway are warping due to abnormally high air temperatures.
Due to the overheating of the road surface, certain sections of the road have buckled, posing a potential hazard to traffic. Drivers are urged to exercise caution when traveling through these affected areas.
Road deformation due to extreme heat
The Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service has urged drivers to exercise caution while traveling on the M-07 Kyiv–Kovel–Yagodin highway.
"We urge drivers to drive carefully on the M-07 Kyiv-Kovel-Yagodin highway: due to extremely high temperatures, the road surface is unable to withstand the heat. Concrete slabs on the road are warping, shifting, and rising sharply due to thermal expansion, which poses a danger to drivers," the statement reads.
Experts note that the road surface is under constant monitoring, and they are working to promptly repair any damage found.
Restrictions on Freight Traffic
The agency also reminded the public that restrictions on heavy-duty vehicle traffic are in effect during periods of high temperatures.
These measures are implemented to preserve road infrastructure and reduce the risk of further damage during heat waves.
