The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is investigating a case in which a detective received real estate as a gift from a suspect in a corruption case

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has launched an internal investigation into one of its detectives, who received a property as a gift from his father.

The detective is an official suspect in a high-profile corruption case involving the Supreme Court.

The director of the NABU has already signed an order to seize the property in question to prevent its concealment or transfer of ownership.

The agency emphasized that this employee could not directly influence the course of the investigation into his relative’s case.

“The employee in question was not a member of the investigative team probing the criminal proceedings regarding corruption in the Supreme Court and did not have access to the relevant case materials,” the Bureau’s press service noted.

However, the verification of the facts regarding the re-registration of the property is ongoing.

Law enforcement officials took urgent procedural measures immediately after the suspect in the corruption case was charged.

In addition to an internal order from the agency’s director, detectives submitted the relevant documents to the courts.

“In addition, on the day the charges were announced, the Director of NABU signed a decision to seize the aforementioned property, which has been forwarded for execution. The Bureau also submitted a corresponding motion for the court to seize the property,” the official statement reads.
