NABU has uncovered new evidence in the case of misconduct at the State Special Communications Service
NABU and the SAPO have uncovered new evidence in the case involving misconduct during the procurement of drones for the Defense Forces in 2023.
Charges have been updated against four previously identified suspects, and another participant in the scheme—the de facto controller of private companies—has been notified of the charges against him.
According to NABU, the amount of losses to the state has risen from 90 million to 254 million hryvnias.
The case involves the procurement of DJI Mavic 3T, DJI Mavic 3Pro, and DJI Matrice M30T drones. In total, in September 2023, the State Special Communications Service signed additional contracts for the supply of 3,400 drones.
NABU stated that the drones were purchased at prices 60–90% higher than market rates. According to the investigation, the winners of the tenders were determined in advance, while other affiliated companies were brought in to create the appearance of competition.
The suspects’ actions were classified under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—misappropriation of property on an especially large scale.
