Naftogaz Has a New CEO Following Koretsky's Resignation
The Supervisory Board of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” has appointed Serhiy Fedorenko as interim acting chairman of the company’s management board. The decision was made on July 17 following the end of the term of the previous chairman, Oleksiy Koretskyi.
According to the head of state, he held a meeting with the new Prime Minister, Serhiy Koretskyi.
Zelenskyy reminded the head of the Cabinet of Ministers that preparing for the heating season is currently a critical priority.
“In particular, Serhiy reported that Naftogaz’s independent supervisory board had unanimously appointed Serhiy Fedorenko, a professional with extensive experience, to lead the company for a specified period: he was involved in the transformation of “Ukrnafta” alongside Serhiy Koretskyi,” the president emphasized.
According to Zelenskyy, they share the experience of successfully purging all of the company’s internal processes of predatory oligarchic influence. The head of state noted that thanks to this, “Ukrnafta” has become one of the most profitable state-owned companies. Against this backdrop, Zelenskyy added that work to restore the energy infrastructure following Russian attacks continues unabated.

“Today, the Russians attacked Naftogaz facilities again—unfortunately, there is significant damage. We discussed with the Prime Minister what steps are needed under these circumstances, and it is important that, despite the constant Russian attacks, we implement everything we agreed upon to prepare for winter,” the head of state concluded.
He will lead Naftogaz as acting CEO until the competitive selection process is completed and a new CEO is appointed.
Overall, Fedorenko has more than 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
Prior to his appointment as commercial director of Naftogaz, he held a similar position at Ukrnafta. There, he was responsible for:
- the purchase and sale of petroleum products;
- supply logistics;
- gas and electricity trading;
- managing and developing the network of gas stations.
Previously, from 2015 to 2023, Fedorenko served as Director of Commercial Affairs at JSC “Ukrgazvydobuvannya,” where he was also a member of the board of directors. In addition, from 2019 to 2022, he headed the company “Naftogaz Oil Trading.”
