A man was arrested in downtown Bila Tserkva for shooting at a passerby

Police in the Kyiv region detained a 43-year-old resident of Bila Tserkva who, on July 11, fired a shot from an air gun and wounded an 18-year-old young man. The injured young man was admitted to the hospital, where he received the necessary medical care. 

Investigators tracked down the suspect—he was living in a house located near the scene of the crime.

During a search of the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers discovered and seized physical evidence, including an air rifle with an optical sight and ammunition for it. The shooter was detained in accordance with legal procedures and placed in a temporary detention facility.

Currently, investigators, under the procedural supervision of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor’s Office, are conducting a pretrial investigation into the incident of hooliganism involving the use of a weapon (Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, punishable by up to 7 years in prison). Investigative actions to establish all the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.

Earlier in the Lviv region, law enforcement officers quickly located and detained a man who opened fire in the regional capital and threatened a passerby with a weapon. 

In the village of Letychiv, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, law enforcement officers detained a 31-year-old local resident who opened fire with an automatic weapon near the regional recruitment and social support center.
