Rain and sleet are expected to continue in Ukraine in the coming days
In Kyiv and most regions of Ukraine, unstable weather conditions will persist in the coming days, with precipitation in the form of rain and sleet. Frosts are possible in some areas at night.
This was reported by Natalia Ptukha, a meteorologist at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, during a television broadcast.
“If we classify the type of precipitation we’re currently experiencing in the capital in more detail, it’s a mixed-phase precipitation, specifically wet snow, since daytime temperatures here are still mostly above freezing, albeit slightly, so we may have precipitation, and, unfortunately, for the next two days we may have mixed-phase precipitation, mostly liquid in the form of rain, but wet snow may also mix in; if it manages to stick to surfaces in some places, it will be quite short-lived and will melt immediately,” she noted.
According to her, a similar weather situation is observed in most regions of Ukraine. Precipitation will mainly fall as rain, sometimes with wet snow, which may temporarily linger on surfaces.
“In the rest of the regions, we also see a trend where precipitation is mostly rain, occasionally mixed with wet snow; sometimes it may linger on surfaces, but this is quite short-lived, because during the day, temperatures will still mostly remain above freezing, and only at night might temperatures occasionally drop slightly below zero,” Ptukha said.
The meteorologist noted that due to the start of active vegetation, even a slight drop in temperature below zero can negatively affect the agricultural sector. At the same time, cloud cover in some regions partially mitigates the intensity of frosts.
On Thursday, April 10, cold and windy weather with nighttime frosts will persist in Ukraine. Rain is expected in most regions, with wet snow in some areas.
