Ukraine has proposed that Denmark work together to create a missile defense shield

Ukraine and Denmark are expanding their defense partnership to support the key priorities of the Armed Forces. The countries are focusing on the procurement of Ukrainian drones, the localization of production, and the development of air defense capabilities.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on its website.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held talks with his Danish counterpart, Troels Lund Poulsen. The key focus of the negotiations was the supply of Ukrainian-made drones, particularly interceptors, for the needs of the Armed Forces.

During the meeting, the parties discussed scaling up the successful Danish model of supporting the defense industry. This approach allows foreign partners to finance weapons production directly in Ukraine.

Since 2024, this mechanism has helped raise approximately $3 billion for the production of Ukrainian weapons, including over 200,000 drones, thousands of electronic warfare systems, and missiles.

Ukraine expects a further increase in procurement under this model, which will allow for faster supply to the front lines while simultaneously investing in the domestic defense industry.

In addition, Mykhailo Fedorov requested that additional aid be allocated as soon as possible before the next “Ramstein” meeting, scheduled for June, to implement the defense strategy.

The participants discussed steps to localize new production in Denmark for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Such cooperation is expected to benefit both sides, as Ukraine will receive more equipment for the front lines, and Denmark will gain access to technologies that have already proven their effectiveness in modern warfare.

Separately, the ministers reviewed the prospects for a Drone Deal between the countries. This format is intended to simplify the exchange of technologies and defense products, as well as accelerate the implementation of joint projects in the field of unmanned systems.

Another key issue was Denmark’s support for scaling up the production of Ukrainian missiles.

Another key area of defense cooperation identified is the development of air defense and the preparation of a domestic anti-ballistic missile project. The Ukrainian side invited Denmark to join this initiative. Specifically, this involves a contribution in the form of radars, which could become a key component of a future technical solution.

Recall that during his address to the British Parliament on March 17, 2026, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that 201 Ukrainian military specialists are already serving in the Middle East, and another 34 are preparing for deployment.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States does not need Ukraine’s help in defending against Iranian drone strikes. He emphasized that American drones are “the best in the world” and their capabilities surpass any others.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that the United States allegedly does not need Ukraine’s help in combating Iranian “Shahed” drones. The head of state called such words “rhetoric” and emphasized that what matters most are real actions and cooperation between countries
