NATO is preparing for an important visit to Ukraine after an eight-year hiatus

The NATO Military Committee is expected to visit Ukraine in October. This will be the committee’s first visit in the last eight years. This was announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatiy following a conversation with the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.

Mykhailo Drapatiy reported that he had spoken with Giuseppe Cavo Dragone. According to the Commander-in-Chief, this was their first face-to-face conversation. Drapatiy thanked the admiral for his support of Ukraine and his personal stance regarding our country. Cavo Dragone has already visited Ukraine three times and has personally observed the situation on the ground. “Today, I spoke for the first time with the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone. I thanked him for his personal stance and consistent support for Ukraine at the level of the Alliance’s top military leadership. The admiral has visited us three times, has seen the situation firsthand, and this comes through in our conversation,” Drapatiy wrote.

During the conversation, the commander-in-chief described the situation on the front lines and the Ukrainian army’s main needs. Among the priorities, he cited long-range strikes, new infantry tactics, and the use of robotic systems on the front lines. They also discussed air defense separately. Drapatiy emphasized that defending Ukrainian airspace remains one of his main tasks. “We spoke specifically about air defense. Defending our airspace is my priority,” noted the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The visit is scheduled for October

According to Drapaty, Ukraine expects the entire NATO Military Committee to visit in October. “We expect the NATO Military Committee to visit Ukraine in October. The last such visit took place eight years ago,” he said. The Military Committee is NATO’s highest military body. It advises the Alliance’s leadership on defense and military policy issues.

For Ukraine, such a visit is of particular significance, as Ukrainian troops gain experience directly on the battlefield every day and test new approaches to warfare. Drapatiy emphasized that Ukraine not only receives assistance from its allies but also shares its own combat experience with NATO. “Ukraine does not merely receive support. We share combat experience that no one else has today, and it contributes to the security of the entire Alliance. Thank you to our allies. We are working together,” emphasized the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was announced on Friday by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatiy.

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, confirmed the Alliance’s continued military support for Ukraine during his first conversation with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatiy.
