The school year in Ukraine will officially end on June 30
In Ukraine, the current 2025–2026 school year will officially run through June 30, 2026; however, the format of instruction in June will be flexible.
According to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1003, this date is the deadline for completing the educational process under martial law.
Despite the deadline set by the government, each school has the autonomy to determine the specific dates for the last day of school and the start of summer break.
The final decision is made by the school’s pedagogical council, based on the security situation in the region and the completion of the curriculum.
Classes at the very beginning of summer will not necessarily take the form of regular lessons.
In June, schools may organize additional consultations, project days, field trips, or individual sessions to compensate for educational losses caused by shelling or power outages.
According to the law, the total duration of school breaks during the year cannot be less than 30 calendar days.
The recommended schedule included fall, winter, and spring breaks, and the summer break is tentatively set to begin for most students as early as June 1.
The government resolution takes into account the need for flexibility in the educational process so that teachers can complete the curriculum without placing an excessive burden on the children.
Teaching staff independently balance state standards with the actual capabilities of each individual class.
The Cabinet of Ministers has tightened requirements for candidates seeking employment in schools and kindergartens
As a reminder, Ukraine has compiled a ranking of distance learning schools based on the results of the National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT). It assesses the academic performance of graduates and demonstrates the effectiveness of online learning in the country.
In Kyiv, schools and kindergartens will be temporarilymerged due to heating problems.
