The NBU is calling for an investigation into the kidnapping of Oschadbank cash collectors

The NBU is calling for an investigation into the kidnapping of Oschadbank cash collectors

Andriy Pyshnyy, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, stated that there is a need for an objective investigation into all the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping of Oschadbank’s cash transporters and the seizure of its assets, as well as for the payment of adequate compensation for the physical and emotional harm caused.

He emphasized that a transparent and documented banking transaction was exploited for a brazen criminal attack. The head of the NBU drew attention to the simultaneous appearance online of nearly identical posts following the detention, whose authors promoted narratives of former Hungarian or Russian criminal authorities and spread speculation about an incorrect route, Serbian involvement, the corrupt origin of the funds, and improperly packaged gold.

Pyshnyy noted that the relevant authorities should investigate the motives of the authors of these posts. The National Bank plans to continue cooperating with European authorities to conduct a detailed investigation of the incident and take measures to prevent similar situations in the future.

This is stated in Pyshnyy’s Facebook post.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced the results of a local media investigation into the March events related to the operation against Ukrainian cash collectors and Oschadbank property. According to him, former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán may have been personally involved in the decision-making process.
