The dollar is rising again; the NBU has updated its exchange rates for July 28

The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official exchange rates for foreign currencies for Tuesday, July 28. After a brief summer lull, the U.S. dollar has resumed its upward trend, and the euro has also begun to appreciate.

Thus, the foreign exchange market continues to show gradual changes in the exchange rates of major foreign currencies. Read on to find out what the official exchange rates for the dollar, euro, and other currencies will be on Tuesday.

The NBU set the official exchange rate for the dollar at 44.85 UAH for Tuesday, July 28, which is 5 kopecks higher than on Monday, July 27. On Monday, the U.S. dollar was trading at 44.80 UAH.

At the same time, the official exchange rate for the euro continues to decline. As of July 27, it stands at 51.07 UAH, whereas on Monday the euro was trading at 50.96 UAH. Thus, the euro has risen by 11 kopecks.

The Impact of the Summer “Lull” on the Market

According to Taras Lesovoy, head of the treasury department at Globus Bank, the foreign exchange market is currently experiencing a period of relative summer lull due to a seasonal slowdown in business activity.

The banker noted that this summer “lull” curbs speculative demand, and the spread between the cash rate and the interbank rate gradually narrows during this period. At the same time, by the end of July, the overall market benchmark is expected to remain around 45 UAH/dollar, though this process should occur smoothly and without sudden spikes.

According to the expert, the National Bank of Ukraine is monitoring the situation and smoothing out temporary imbalances through foreign exchange interventions, which helps keep exchange rate fluctuations within predictable limits.

This was reported by the NBU.

The dollar exchange rate may rise to 45.5 hryvnias in August.

As a reminder, Serhiy Mamedov, vice president of the Association of Ukrainian Banks and chairman of the board of Globus Bank, forecasts that by the end of 2026, the dollar exchange rate could rise to 46–46.5 UAH, and the euro to 52.5–53.5 hryvnias.

In July, the Ukrainian food market will generally remain stable, though certain categories may experience both seasonal price drops and moderate price increases. This is due to changes in producers’ costs, logistics, and labor costs.
