Omelyan commented on the allegations of evading military service
Former Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan has responded to allegations by the State Bureau of Investigations regarding evasion of military service. The former official called the accusations baseless, noting that he was officially discharged from the Armed Forces of Ukraine after sustaining an injury and receiving a corresponding medical evaluation.
In his statement on Facebook, Omelyan noted that he does not understand the logic of law enforcement, since all documents regarding his military service and discharge are public or are in the possession of the relevant authorities. Omelyan emphasized that his discharge took place in accordance with current legislation, and he is currently with his family in the United Kingdom.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), for its part, accuses the former minister of violating military service regulations, but the defense insists that all necessary medical and administrative grounds for his stay abroad exist.
Earlier, an indictment was filed against former Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan regarding the case of underpayment of port fees.
