The last day of July will bring temperatures of up to +35° and a high risk of wildfires
On Thursday, July 31, most regions of Ukraine will experience sunny and hot weather with no significant precipitation. Air temperatures will reach +35° in some areas, and due to the dry conditions and heat, meteorologists are warning of a high risk of wildfires.
On Friday, July 31, warm and dry weather will prevail across Ukraine, driven by an anticyclone—an area of high atmospheric pressure. Thanks to the influx of warm air from Western Europe, daytime temperatures will rise to 25–30 degrees, and in some parts of the western regions, they will reach +34°.
According to forecasters, most of the country is expected to see light cloud cover with no precipitation. Winds will be light and variable, blowing at 3–8 m/s, contributing to comfortable weather conditions.
Overnight, temperatures will range from 12–17 degrees Celsius. During the day, the air will warm up quickly under mostly clear skies to 25–30°, and in the far west of the country—up to 34°.
At the same time, meteorologists are warning of an extreme fire hazard. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, from July 31 to August 2, this risk will prevail in the Volyn, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy regions, as well as in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
In addition, an extreme fire danger level is also forecast for August 1–2 in the Rivne, Kirovohrad, and Chernihiv regions.
Emergency responders are urging citizens to be especially careful when spending time outdoors, to refrain from lighting fires in forests and open areas, and to avoid discarding cigarette butts or other items that could ignite dry vegetation. Dry and hot weather significantly increases the risk of fires starting and spreading rapidly.
As a reminder, the June heatwave in Europe led to significant losses in agriculture. The cost of the destroyed grain harvest is estimated at more than 2 billion euros, with farmers in France and Hungary suffering the most.
