Zelenskyy met with ambassadors from five countries
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accepted the credentials of the new ambassadors from Oman, North Macedonia, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and France. During the meetings, he briefed the diplomats on the latest massive Russian shelling and discussed further cooperation with each country.
The main topics included strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, security support, the country’s reconstruction, sanctions against Russia, and the development of bilateral relations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accepted the credentials of the newly appointed ambassadors of Oman, North Macedonia, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and France. Following the official ceremony, the head of state held separate meetings with each of the diplomats, during which they discussed issues of security, defense, economic cooperation, and support for Ukraine.
During the meetings, Zelenskyy first briefed the diplomats on the latest Russian nighttime attack. According to him, Russia once again deployed a large number of ballistic missiles, and the strike resulted in casualties and destruction. “Even while we were speaking with the ambassadors, Russia continued to strike our cities and communities. Under these circumstances, air defense remains our top priority. Anyone who can help—whether by providing missile systems or working on anti-ballistic technology—is directly helping to save lives,” the president emphasized.
What Was Discussed with the Ambassador of Oman
During the meeting with the new Ambassador of Oman, Meita Saif Al Mahrouki, the parties discussed the development of cooperation in the field of security, as well as issues of international trade and energy.
Zelenskyy separately noted the importance of safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, as this is of great significance for global energy security. “We are very pleased to have you here. Strong relations with various representatives of the Middle East are very important to us: for the future, for security, and for business,” said the head of state.
Cooperation with North Macedonia
The president thanked the new ambassador of North Macedonia, Dimitar Blazhevski, for his country’s support of Ukraine, its participation in the Coalition of the Willing, and active cooperation within the regional framework of Southern European countries. According to Zelenskyy, this format has already proven its effectiveness, and there are plans to further develop it.
“North Macedonia, Serbia, Greece—yes, we really didn’t have such a format before; we tried it once, and now we see that this format is very good. We want to continue,” the president noted. The parties also discussed support for Ukraine’s energy sector, preparations for winter, and the country’s future reconstruction.
Ukraine and the UAE Will Strengthen Security Cooperation
During a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Muhammad Matar Bati Hawash Al-Haili, the parties discussed the development of cooperation in the fields of security and defense. The president noted that Ukraine already has its own experience in air defense, which it can share with its partners.
“We are very happy to be of service. And, of course, we stand by your side and support your country and its security. We wish your region all the best,” Zelenskyy said. In addition, the parties discussed new defense projects and further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Air Defense, the Tribunal, and European Integration
During his conversation with Dutch Ambassador Roolof Sander van Eys, the president focused on issues of air defense and the need to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian airspace. Zelenskyy also thanked the Netherlands for its support of the PURL program, anti-ballistic initiatives, and the decision to establish a Special Tribunal in The Hague regarding Russia’s crime of aggression against Ukraine.
“We are very proud that we have been able to build strong relations between our peoples, ordinary citizens, and leaders. This is truly very important,” the head of state emphasized. Separately, the parties discussed Ukraine’s European integration and the opening of new negotiation clusters with the European Union.
Discussions with France focused on missiles and sanctions
During a meeting with French Ambassador Brice Rocfay, the president thanked Paris for its continued support of Ukraine. “We are very grateful to your President, Mr. Macron, for our consistently strong relations and for his significant support—ranging from military to political,” Zelenskyy said.
The parties discussed further strengthening Ukraine’s air defense system, the production of missiles under license, the implementation of agreements regarding fighter jets, and the development of a European anti-ballistic defense system. Special attention was paid during the talks to new sanctions against Russia. The President emphasized that international pressure must force the Kremlin to return to genuine negotiations on ending the war and achieving a just peace. The President announced this on Facebook.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council will take place early next week. The main topic will be the implementation of resilience plans in the regions, as, according to the head of state, many regions have not yet fulfilled the necessary tasks.
