Pashynsky stated that the new arms export regulations have blocked contracts for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Serhiy Pashynsky, head of the National Association of Ukrainian Defense Industry Enterprises (NAUDI), stated that the Cabinet of Ministers’ new resolution on arms exports has blocked the implementation of contracts for the Defense Forces under the so-called “Danish model.”
According to him, the problem arose due to a provision requiring manufacturers, after receiving advance payments from the governments of partner countries, to pay a 20% export duty before transferring the products to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Pashynsky claims that this has put multi-billion defense projects funded by NATO countries at risk, and that the arms export mechanism is effectively not working.
NAUDI has called on Acting Minister of Defense Yevhen Khmara to initiate amendments to the government resolution in order to resolve regulatory conflicts and unblock the fulfillment of contracts.
