Pensioners living abroad must complete the identification process by the end of the year

Pensioners living abroad must complete the identification process by the end of the year

Ukrainian pensioners living outside the country must undergo in-person verification by December 31, 2026. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the suspension of pension payments.

This is an annual procedure that confirms that the pensioner is alive and continues to receive payments legally. Without it, the Pension Fund will stop making payments.

Under Ukrainian law, pensions are paid into accounts at Ukrainian banks only if identification is completed by December 31 of each year. If you completed it in 2026, payments will continue in 2027. If not, they will be stopped.

This applies to all Ukrainian pensioners who left the country at the start of the full-scale invasion or at any other time and continue to receive a Ukrainian pension. Even if identification was completed in 2025, it must be completed again in 2026.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) reminds you: pensions are deposited only into accounts at Ukrainian banks. If funds remain unused for an extended period, this may also trigger an audit. Monitor your card activity.

As a reminder, pension funding for Ukrainianswas increased in April.

Ukrainians’ attitudes toward the May holidays have changed significantly in recent years. Labor Day on May 1 and Victory Day on May 9 are no longer among the most important holidays for most citizens.

Pensionersmust complete the identification process by April 1 to continue receiving their payments.
