Drunk driver sentenced to 10 years for fatal car accident in Pavlohrad
A court found a resident of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast guilty of causing a fatal accident while under the influence of alcohol and sentenced him to the maximum penalty.
This was reported by the regional prosecutor’s office.
The tragedy occurred on February 1, 2025, in Pavlohrad. The man, driving a BMW, was traveling at a speed of about 120 km/h and crashed into a VAZ car that had stopped at a red traffic light.
As a result of the collision, the 21-year-old VAZ driver died at the scene.
After the impact, the defendant’s car veered into the oncoming lane, where another accident occurred. The driver fled the scene but was apprehended the following day.
The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison and revoked his driver’s license for the same period. The convicted man was taken into custody in the courtroom.
In the Chernihiv region, eight people were injured in a traffic accident.
Also, in the Rivne region, road workers were charged in connection with a traffic accident that left three people dead.
