Suspect in the murder of a woman and her daughter extradited from Poland to Ukraine

A man from Kherson, suspected of raping and murdering a 7-year-old girl as well as killing her mother, has been extradited from Poland to Ukraine. He has been handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement authorities for further investigation.

This was reported by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

Details

In July 2022, during the occupation of Kherson, a 40-year-old woman and her child went to stay with her former husband, hoping to find safer conditions.

“Instead, the 41-year-old man killed his ex-wife and stepdaughter. A forensic medical examination confirmed that the girl had been raped before her death,” the statement said.

After committing the crime, the suspect left the city via territories not controlled by Ukraine and remained in hiding abroad for a long time.

In March 2025, law enforcement authorities formally notified him of suspicion in absentia and placed him on an international wanted list. He was later detained in Poland and extradited to Ukraine on 19 March 2026.

The court has now ordered a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody.

He is charged with the premeditated murder of two people and the rape of a minor (Clauses 1, 2, 10, Part 2, Article 115, and Part 4, Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspect faces life imprisonment.
