Following the April terrorist attack in Kyiv, the first 200 patrol officers began intensive training at a training ground. The decision to provide additional training for law enforcement officers was made by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. During the training, the officers are practicing procedures in high-risk situations and responding to potential threats.
This was reported with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Communications Department.
What is the purpose of the training?
As noted, the goal is to teach police officers to effectively respond to wartime threats: from working near the front lines to protecting civilians in rear cities.
"A police officer should not be afraid when something explodes or a bullet whistles by. Because a police officer is a police officer precisely to take risks for the sake of other people’s lives," Klymenko emphasized.
Police officers are already honing their skills in firearms training, tactical medicine, and psychological resilience.
A key feature of the program is the involvement of experienced instructors from the 1st and 2nd Brigades of the National Guard, who have combat experience.
The training will be mandatory
"The training will be mandatory for all units, as every patrol officer must be prepared to save lives and act professionally in extreme conditions," the statement reads.
