Following Russia's attack on an arms exhibition near Kyiv, the event's organizer was detained
On July 25, law enforcement officials announced that they had served a notice of suspicion to the chief organizer of the defense products exhibition that Russia targeted in a strike near Kyiv. He is charged with professional negligence, which, according to the investigation, led to serious consequences.
“Russia is behind this strike. It is Russia that has committed yet another war crime. But the investigation is also establishing the circumstances that may have exacerbated the scale of this tragedy,” wrote Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
According to the investigation, one of the gunmakers’ associations, without consulting the military command, regional and district military administrations, or other authorized bodies, organized a large-scale event involving military personnel, representatives of government agencies, international partners, and the business community. The program included a demonstration of air defense systems.
It is known that invitations were sent out nine days before the event, and the exact location and time were announced one day in advance. Law enforcement officials will determine whether these actions could have enabled the Russians to prepare a targeted strike.
The main organizer has been detained. Due to injuries sustained, he is currently under guard at a medical facility. A court is expected to determine his pretrial detention status in the near future.
Law enforcement officials also conducted searches at the association’s office and at the residences of individuals who may have been involved in organizing the event.
Separately, investigators are examining the actions or inaction of officials from the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), state authorities, local government bodies, and military command, who were responsible for assessing security risks and responding to potential threats.

Earlier, Russia attacked a training ground near Kyiv where a defense products exhibition was being held.
Prior to that, Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv in broad daylight, firing approximately 10 missiles.
