Video: Vitaliy Kim Addresses Ukrainians Following Criticism Over His Appointment
Vitaliy Kim, the newly appointed Minister of Veterans Affairs, commented on the public outcry that followed his appointment. The official emphasized that he has been fully focused on the war since 2022, asked Ukrainians to give him a chance, and promised to present a plan for changes in the ministry’s work in the near future.
Kim noted that since the start of the full-scale invasion, he has devoted himself entirely to work related to the war. “Since 2022, my life has revolved around the war. I’m giving myself a year to implement my plans and show results,” he said.
According to the minister, in just his first week on the job, he has already received dozens of proposals for changes to government programs and familiarized himself with the key issues in veterans’ policy.
He assured that he would continue to meet and consult with veterans and military personnel to take their suggestions into account while preparing reforms. Kim also stated that he would work to secure additional funding to implement the planned changes.
“I understand that systemic changes are needed to make a difference. That is why I am, in fact, asking for your support... I will present my plans soon. I will work on this with the leadership to ensure there are additional budget allocations for the implementation of these plans,” the minister said.

On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada approved the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, headed by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi. The decision was supported by 264 members of parliament.
As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada received a proposal from Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi regarding the appointment of the new Cabinet of Ministers. This was announced by Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.
On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Serhiy Koretsky as Prime Minister of Ukraine. His nomination was supported by 289 members of parliament.
