Zelenskyy confirmed that a facility in Kirov and an oil refinery in Tyumen had been hit
Ukrainian defense forces carried out a series of long-range strikes on targets within Russia and in the Caspian Sea. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that among the targets struck were a facility in Kirov, an oil refinery in Tyumen, a logistics facility in Yekaterinburg, and vessels involved in military transport.
According to the head of state, these strikes were a response to Russian attacks on Ukraine. He emphasized that Ukrainian forces continue to use long-range weapons against targets that help Russia wage war.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that last night, the Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked a number of facilities critical to Russia’s military-industrial complex and the supply of its armed forces. He said that one of the targeted facilities was a plant in Kirov. The president noted that this facility supplies components for the weapons Russia uses to strike Ukrainian cities.
“This is yet another facility in Kirov, from which components are supplied for the weapons Russia uses to strike our people. It is located about 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border,” Zelenskyy said. The head of state did not specify exactly which weapons were used in the attack, but he emphasized the long range of the strike.
The Tyumen Oil Refinery Was Hit
Another target was the oil refinery in Tyumen. Earlier, Russian media reported a drone attack on the facility and a fire on its grounds. Local authorities stated that emergency services were on the scene but did not report on the extent of the damage.
Zelenskyy confirmed that the Tyumen Oil Refinery was among the facilities struck by Ukrainian forces. This refinery is one of Russia’s largest oil refining facilities. It produces fuel and other products used in the country’s energy sector.
Logistics and fuel facilities were also attacked
According to the president, other facilities on Russian territory were also struck during the operation. Among them were a logistics facility in Yekaterinburg and a fuel and lubricants depot in Rostov-on-Don.
Such facilities are crucial for ensuring the functioning of Russian industry and military infrastructure. Ukraine has previously stated on multiple occasions that strikes on such targets are aimed at reducing Russia’s ability to conduct military operations.
Strikes in the Caspian Sea
Separately, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the results of an operation in the Caspian Sea. According to him, Ukrainian forces struck a military ship, as well as vessels used to transport military cargo from Iran.
“We have also achieved very good results from long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea. Specifically, these include vessels that were involved in transporting military cargo from Iran, as well as a warship,” the president noted. This is one of the most remote areas where Ukraine has reported conducting operations against Russian targets.
Ukraine refers to the strikes as “long-range sanctions”
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine continues to use long-range capabilities in response to Russian attacks. According to him, targets are selected from among facilities involved in supporting the war against Ukraine.
“Ukraine continues to employ long-range sanctions in response to Russian strikes,” the head of state said. He also emphasized that such operations are intended to weaken Russia’s ability to produce weapons, transport military cargo, and sustain combat operations.
What Is Known So Far
The President of Ukraine confirmed the destruction of several Russian facilities in various regions of the country, as well as targets in the Caspian Sea. Among them are a facility in Kirov, the Tyumen Oil Refinery, a logistics facility in Yekaterinburg, a fuel and lubricants depot in Rostov-on-Don, and vessels involved in military transport.
Other details of the operation, including the extent of the damage and the results of the operations on the ground, are not being disclosed at this time. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Facebook.
On the night of July 25, long-range drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine attacked Russian military facilities in Rostov-on-Don and in the Caspian Sea. According to the SBU, the targets included an oil production platform, a missile boat, two ships, an S-400 radar station, and warehouses containing FPV drones.
As a reminder, a Russian port on the Black Sea has halted oil loading operations.
Prior to this, Russia reported a drone attack on the night of July 25. In the city of Engels in the Saratov region, a fire broke out following reports of a drone threat; it likely originated near a military facility. Russian authorities have not officially reported on the cause of the fire or the possible consequences of the attack.
