A new acting head has taken charge of the Tax Service

The Cabinet of Ministers appointed Yuriy Konyushenko as first deputy head of the State Tax Service and temporarily tasked him with leading the agency. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky has already outlined the main tasks for the new acting head: ensuring the stable operation of the State Tax Service, securing budget revenues, and simplifying tax procedures.

 

On September 25, the government appointed Yuriy Konyushenko as First Deputy Head of the State Tax Service. At the same time, he was temporarily assigned the duties of the STS head. According to the prime minister, the new acting head faces several specific tasks. “The new acting head faces specific tasks: ensuring the coordinated and uninterrupted operation of the State Tax Service, meeting revenue targets for the state budget, improving and simplifying tax administration, enhancing cooperation with the business community, and maintaining an open dialogue with taxpayers,”, Koretskyi stated.

In other words, Konyushenko must ensure the stable operation of the State Tax Service, meet revenue targets for the state budget, and simplify tax administration. Separately, the government expects him to foster better cooperation with the business community and more open communication with taxpayers.

What is known about Yuriy Konyushenko

Prior to his appointment at the State Tax Service, Konyushenko worked at the Ministry of Finance. He headed the Department for Coordination and Monitoring. Before joining the Ministry of Finance, he worked at the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, where Konyushenko had been employed since 2015. Specifically, he served as deputy head of the Directorate for Budget, Tax, and Customs Policy and headed the division for tax and customs policy.

In 2020, Konyushenko moved to the Ministry of Finance. There, he became director of the department responsible for coordination and monitoring. He held this position until his new appointment to the State Tax Service. As a reminder, the previous acting head of the State Tax Service, Lesya Karnaukh, stepped down from this position in September. On September 14, the government terminated her powers as acting head of the State Tax Service, and on September 23, she was dismissed from her position as first deputy head of the service. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced the appointment.
