A petition calling on Zelenskyy to engage with independent media has reached the required number of votes
An online petition calling on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to hold an open press conference with independent media has gathered the required 25,000 signatures to ensure it is considered. The Office of the President has not yet responded to the petition.
The initiative was registered on August 27 by Anna Repina, a resident of Dnipro, who was one of the coordinators of the protests against the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov from the post of defense minister. According to the author, despite the protests, the public’s voice was never heard by the authorities, and an open meeting with journalists is a realistic way to restore a meaningful dialogue.
The author calls for organizing a press conference with representatives from independent media outlets, including “Ukrainska Pravda,” Bihus.Info, “Slidstvo.Info,” “Radio Svoboda,” hromadske, The Kyiv Independent, Suspilne, NV, “Dzerkalo Tyzhnia,” BBC Ukraine, Liga.net, and other media outlets, where journalists would be able to ask tough and uncomfortable questions without having to coordinate their content in advance.
This is according to information on the Office of the President’s website.
