Weather Forecast for May 28: A sharp drop in temperatures is expected across Ukraine
A sharp change in weather conditions is expected in Ukraine on May 28, when a wave of cool air will replace the prolonged warm spell.
This was reported by meteorologist Natalka Didenko, who noted that these changes are caused by the movement of active air masses.
According to forecasters, temperatures will drop significantly across the country, and stormy winds will intensify.
According to the expert, on May 28, Ukraine will be “in the wake of a cold atmospheric front.” Because of this, moderate weather fluctuations and changes in atmospheric pressure are possible in most regions.
“So there will still be some lingering rain,” the meteorologist clarified, adding that overall, the expected precipitation will be localized and light.
Heavy, cool air will begin to spread rapidly behind the cold front, causing a drop in daytime temperatures. In most regions, the air will warm up to only +15...+19 degrees Celsius.
“Therefore, the air temperature will drop noticeably,” she noted. Only in southern Ukraine will the weather remain somewhat warmer—between +20 and +23 °C.
The drop in temperature will be accompanied by strong air currents due to differences in atmospheric pressure.
“Cold air is heavy and exerts strong pressure. Therefore, due to resistance from warmer air, the wind will intensify to storm-force gusts,” Didenko also noted.
Citizens are advised to be cautious when outdoors due to the risk of falling branches or unstable structures.
In the Ukrainian capital, weather conditions will also undergo significant changes and bring a noticeable chill to Kyiv residents. A strong northwesterly wind is expected in Kyiv, which will intensify the sensation of cold.
“There is a chance of light rain,” Didenko said.
The daytime air temperature in the city will drop and settle around +15 degrees Celsius.
