Police have tracked down the driver who may have caused a fatal traffic accident in the Mykolaiv region
Law enforcement officials have identified and located the driver who, according to preliminary reports, may have caused a major traffic accident in the Mykolaiv region. Twelve people were killed in the accident, and investigators are continuing to look into the circumstances of the tragedy.
As a reminder, on the morning of July 4, a passenger minibus traveling from Odesa to Mykolaiv was involved in a traffic accident. As a result, 12 people were killed and 6 others were injured. The 49-year-old driver and 8 passengers of the minibus died at the scene, while three others died in the hospital.
Preliminary findings indicate that the minibus driver veered off the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturn and veer uncontrollably into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a Volvo truck.

Later, law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene and interviewed witnesses determined that the accident may have been caused by a traffic violation committed by another driver traveling in the opposite direction of the minibus.
To locate his vehicle—a Nissan crossover—the police organized a special operation. A few hours later, on the Blagovishchenske–Mykolaiv highway, law enforcement officers stopped a Nissan Murano driven by a 45-year-old resident of another region.
Police are currently conducting initial investigative actions. They are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and determining the legal classification of the crossover driver’s actions.
