Police uncovered five more schemes to evade military service: bribes reached $6,000
Law enforcement officials have uncovered five more corruption schemes that allowed individuals to evade military service. The cost of such services reached $6,000.
Specifically, in the Khmelnytskyi region, the head of an expert team tasked with evaluating a person’s daily functioning received $4,000. In exchange for this money, she was supposed to prepare medical documents regarding an illness and influence other team members to assign a disability classification.
In the Odesa region, an official at a technical vocational college demanded $1,600 to arrange a fictitious enrollment of a person at the institution.
In the Cherkasy region, an inspector at the Regional Military Recruitment and Social Support Center, in exchange for $3,000, used the Medical Examination Commission at that center to help an individual be deemed unfit for military service, with the relevant information entered into the “Oberig” system.
In Zakarpattia Oblast, an employee of a critical enterprise offered, for $6,000, to secure employment for a man without him actually having to report to work and to have him removed from the wanted list.
In the Sumy region, a member of an expert team assessing an individual’s daily functioning promised, for 10,000 hryvnias, to hospitalize a person of mobilization age without any grounds, followed by the issuance of a sick leave certificate.
All individuals involved in the criminal proceedings have been notified of the charges against them. Depending on their involvement in the offense, their actions are classified under Articles 368 (acceptance of a proposal, promise, or receipt of an unlawful benefit by a public official) and 369-2 (abuse of influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
