Former People's Deputy Yevgen Shago Has Died

Yevhen Shago, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament during the 5th and 6th convocations, has died in Ukraine.

Yevhen Shago was involved in government and public service for many years and held a number of senior positions.

In particular, he served as First Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and headed the board of the “United Energy Systems of Ukraine” corporation.

In the Verkhovna Rada of the 5th and 6th convocations, Shago served on relevant parliamentary committees.

He was a member of:

  • the Committee on Fuel and Energy;
  • the Committee on Environmental Policy.

In addition, Yevhen Shago served as secretary of the Counting Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of the 6th convocation.

The cause of the politician’s death has not yet been reported.

Earlier, Valentina Sushytska, the great-great-granddaughter of Taras Shevchenko through his sister Kateryna, died in Ladyzhyn, Vinnytsia Oblast. She was 90 years old. For many years, she preserved her family’s history, knew a significant portion of the Kobzar’s works by heart, and wrote poetry herself.
