More than 8 million passengers traveled on Ukrzaliznytsia this summer
During the summer months, more than 8 million passengers used Ukrzaliznytsia’s services. Passenger traffic remains consistently high and continues to grow, despite intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure.
"During the summer of 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia transported more than 8.14 million people. This is more than last summer—8.07 million—and in 2024—7.94 million passengers," the statement reads.
It is noted that during the summer months, 628,400 children, 90,000 military personnel, and 22,000 people with disabilities, including veterans, used the rail service.
“This year’s summer season has been a challenge for the Ukrainian railway—Russia is attempting to disrupt domestic logistics. At the same time, railway workers continue to optimize operations in line with the security situation, quickly adjust logistics, and make the most of the available rolling stock,” the transportation company emphasized.
Ukrzaliznytsia added that the railway is entering the fall season with an updated schedule, taking into account the security situation and adapted to the current needs of Ukrainians.

Russia continues to strike Ukrainian ports, civilian vessels, and shipping routes in the Black Sea. According to Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariana Betsa, Russian forces attacked more than 50 vessels in the summer of 2026 alone, and nearly 30 people were killed.
Ukrainian Railways (UZ) reminded the public that taking photos on trains or at stations carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.
