"Vitkoff and Kushner wanted to fly to Kyiv, but they will arrive after the Russian attack," said Goncharenko
U.S. President’s Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected to arrive in Kyiv by plane on Sunday following a visit to Moscow. However, following the Russian attack on the capital, the American negotiators’ itinerary has likely changed.
This was reported by Member of Parliament Oleksiy Goncharenko.
According to him, during the preparatory stage of the visit, the American side considered the possibility of flying to Kyiv and was close to finalizing that plan.
“Witkoff and Kushner were supposed to fly to Kyiv on Sunday after visiting Moscow on Saturday,” Goncharenko wrote.
The MP clarified that the plan specifically involved flying to Boryspil Airport. At the same time, he said, the Americans were still hesitating about this decision.
Goncharenko also stated that shortly thereafter, a Russian drone attacked an aircraft near Kyiv’s Zhuliany Airport.
“Therefore, it is most likely that Witkoff and Kushner WILL ARRIVE in Kyiv on Sunday,” the MP speculated.
It was previously reported that Witkoff and Kushner are expected to arrive in Kyiv in the coming days. On September 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian side had received confirmation of their visit.
At the same time, the claim that a Russian strike on the plane at Zhuliany directly influenced how the American representatives would arrive is currently only Oleksiy Goncharenko’s version of events and has not been independently confirmed.
